Celebrations as thousands mark the beginning of the Assyrian New Year

Assyrians across the world have taken part in festivals to mark the beginning of their new year.
For some of those newly arrived in Australia it was the first time they were able to celebrate the national day freely, after fleeing their war-torn country.
"Festivals like this keep their traditions alive and also help promote cross-cultural understanding amongst Australians."
